With a few exceptions, import for trade purposes needs to be conducted by Egyptian nationals or wholly owned and managed Egyptian juristic persons registered in the Register for Importers. Among other conditions, only companies with headquarters in Egypt are granted the registration in the Register of Importers. Foreign companies that wish to set up a subsidiary in Egypt or that already have a branch office must be aware of these restrictions, as even Egyptian Limited Liability Companies with foreign managers are excluded from the Register of Importers.
